代詞，是代替名詞或一句話的一種詞類。大多數代詞具有名詞和形容詞的功能。英語中的代詞，按其意義、特徵及在句中的作用分為：
人稱代詞、物主代詞、指示代詞、反身代詞、相互代詞、疑問代詞、關係代詞、連線代詞、不定代詞和替代詞十種。
1、人稱代詞： 主格：i我，you你，he他，she她，they他們， we我們
賓格：me我， you你， him他， her她， them他們， us我們
2、物主代詞： my我的， his他的， your你的（your你們的）， their他們的， hers她的
3、指示代詞： this這， that那， these這些， those 那些
4、反身代詞：myself我自己， himself他自己， themselves他們自己， yourself你(們)自己，herself她自己
5、疑問代詞：who誰， what什麼， which哪個
6、不定代詞：some一些， many許多， both兩個、兩個都， any許多
7、關係代詞：which……的物， who……的人， that……的人或物， who誰， that引導定語從句
8、相互代詞：each other 互相， one another互相
9、連線代詞： who，whom，whose，what，which，whatever，whichever，whoever，whomever

代詞的種類
代詞是代替名詞以及起名詞作用的短語、分句和句子的詞。英語代詞使用得很廣泛；漢語代詞用得較英語少些。如：
because he had a bad cold, jack decided to stay in bed the whole day. （代詞he代替名詞jack）。
i had a chat with our group leader. it was very helpful.（代詞it代替前面的整個句子）。
代詞可分為八類：
1） 人稱代詞：具有主格（i, you, he, she, it, we, you, they）和賓格（me, you, him, her, it, us, you, them）兩種形式。
2） 物主代詞：包括形容詞性物主代詞（my, your, his, her, its, our, your, their）和名詞性物主代詞（mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, yours, theirs）兩類。
3） 反身代詞：myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves, oneself.
4） 相互代詞：each other, one another.
5） 指示代詞：this, that, these, those, it, such, same.
6） 疑問代詞：who, whom, whose, which, what.
7） 關係代詞：who, whom, whose, which, that, as.
8） 不定代詞：some, something, somebody, someone, any, anything, anybody, anyone, no, nothing, nobody, no one, every, everything, everybody, everyone, each, much, many, little, a little, few, a few, other, another, all, none, one, both, either, neither.
